2018 Champagne & Chocolate Gala

On April 17, 2018, fifty-eight UCO faculty and staff were recognized by President Betz and Provost Barthell for their achievements during the first year of the 21st Century Pedagogy Institute (21CPI). This Institute, in the Center for Excellence in Transformative Teaching and Learning (CETTL), offers a variety of events for faculty to improve the quality of their teaching and student learning.

On April 10, 2017, forty-four UCO faculty were recognized by President Betz and Provost Barthell for their achievements during the first year of the 21st Century Pedagogy Institute (21CPI).



2017 Most Distinguished Teacher-Scholars. President Betz, Dr. Montes, Dr. Frech, Dr. Archuleta, Dr. Rollins, Dr. Johnson (standing in for Dr. Ladwig), Dr. Ludlum, and Provost Barthell. Missing from the photo are Dr. Wood and Dr. Lambeth.

The 2017 Most Distinguished Teacher-Scholars have satisfied all faculty learning outcomes through the 21CPI events and STLR Training. All of the events involved deep engagement where a change in teaching and learning was documented with an artifact. They also conducted peer review training and observed a colleague’s teaching and had their teaching observed. Finally, they videotaped their classroom and self-assessed their own teaching.

The 2017 Distinguished Teacher-Scholars have attended six 21CPI events and STLR Training. Four of the six events required deep engagement where a change in teaching & learning was documented with an authentic artifact.

New Teacher-Scholars are new faculty that have completed all three New Teaching & Learning Modules - the Teaching & Learning Institute, the workshops on Learning from Student Failure and Classroom Management, and STLR training.



SoTL Scholars during the 2016-2017 Academic Year were Dr. Archuleta, Dr. Ladwig, Dr. Rollins, Dr. Burdina, Dr. Lawrence, and Dr. Michalikova.

SoTL Scholars are faculty that have conducted a scholarly study of some aspect of their pedagogy.  Research shows evidence-based pedagogy leads to deeper and more transferable learning. These scholars have written a proposal, received IRB approval, conducted the research, analyzed it, and presented or published on their study.


SoTL Mentors during the 2016-2017 Academic Year were Dr. Archuleta, Dr. Lambeth, and Dr. Lawrence.

SoTL Mentors are faculty that have mentored another faculty member who has successfully completed a year-long SoTL project.


SoTL Participants during the 2016-2017 Academic Year were Dr. Harris, Dr. Ludlum, and Dr. Seagraves.

SoTL Participants are faculty that participated in the year-long SoTL program and who are working on an IRB approval and/or are gathering data.
