Service Opportunities

UCO provides benefited employees with paid time off to volunteer for external community service. Employees may take the equivalent of up to two regularly scheduled workdays (up to a maximum of sixteen (16) hours) per fiscal year for community activities. The hours must be requested in advance and approved by the immediate supervisor, and appropriately recorded with the VSLC.

Below you will find some service opportunities that are through various UCO offices. We look forward to having LUCOA members volunteer together at these important events! More correspondence will be sent out to have volunteers sign-up.

  • Upcoming Service Opportuntities:

    • Big Pink:

      • Big Pink Volleyball is a week long philanthropic volleyball tournament with one giant twist--it is played with a four-foot inflatable pink volleyball.  In the seven years Central has hosted the tournament, $44,000 has been raised and donated to Susan G. Komen-Central and Western Oklahoma. These proceeds were able to go directly to women and men that are affected by breast cancer in the Central Oklahoma Area. Want to join the LUCOA team? Contact Cost is $5/person

    • Big Event:

      • Big Event is a student led service opportunity held every spring by the Big Event student organization.  The mission of Big Event is simply One Big Day. One Big Thanks. One Big Event.  The UCO community heads out into the community to say thank you to residents through service. Volunteers can clean up trash, do yard work, paint, garden, and various other light labor activities inside or outside.  Big Event averages between 600-800 volunteers and 100 service sites each spring.
