Academic Affairs Diversity Implementation Group

The Diversity Implementation Committee was established within the Division of Academic Affairs in order to:

  • Recommend specific changes to the Faculty Handbook to ensure that screening committees reflect and that recruitment and hiring processes support the university’s commitment to increase faculty diversity in all areas of the institution.

  • Develop a set of resources to assist academic departments, schools, and colleges in recruiting diverse applicant pools for faculty positions and in encouraging outstanding candidates from diverse backgrounds to consider careers at the university.

  • Recommend specific initiatives within the Division of Academic Affairs to support junior faculty members from diverse backgrounds and to promote the retention of faculty members of every rank from diverse backgrounds.

  • Recommend new policies and changes to existing policies to facilitate interdisciplinary teaching and learning that focus on issues related to diversity and that reflect and draw upon the professional expertise and lived experience of faculty members and students from diverse backgrounds.
