Conference Formats

50-Minute Interactive Session

These interactive sessions can constitute either an individual presenter or a panel (the proposer puts the panel together) of presenters. The presenter(s) should have handouts and focus on one of the conference threads. The abstract needs to contain the interactive strategy to be used in the session and learning outcomes or attendee takeaways.

30-Minute Research Session

These sessions involve the presentation of research on different aspects of teaching and learning. The abstract must include, the research design and method, relevant literature review, analysis, conclusions, and learning outcomes or takeaways. These sessions are 30 minutes in length, including time for questions.   No AV available for the research sessions.

30-Minute Roundtable Session

Roundtable sessions are for participants to discuss issues, strategies, or ideas related to transformative learning where feedback is beneficial. Attendees include those new to transformative learning, as well as those very familiar with it.  Learning outcomes or takeaways should be included in the abstract. The presenter should plan to give a brief overview (five minutes or less) and ask questions for the participants to discuss. For each session, presenters should bring about 12 copies of handouts. No AV available for the roundtable sessions.

Poster Session

The poster sessions will be divided among undergraduate students and all others (i.e., faculty and graduate students) and are designed to provide opportunities for participants to share research, practice, or innovation with transformative learning. This is an ideal framework for emerging work where collaborative feedback is desired.  At least one author needs to be present during the designated poster session time. Included in the proposal should be a statement how it relates to one of more of the conference threads.

  • The maximum poster size is 42 inches x 42 inches.
  • The poster should be printed for attaching to a poster stand. Supplies for attaching the posters will be available.
  • First, second, and third place will be awarded in the Undergraduate category
