An Italian Experience: Culture, Education and Leadership
(Padua/Venice, Italy)
Spring Break 2018

This course provides students with the rare opportunity to experience a non-English speaking culture while practicing leadership skills; to experience being the other and determine how to meet objectives as a group when the leader speaks a different language other than the main population.  Using Padua and Venice as our laboratories, students have the opportunity to observe and practice leadership in unfamiliar environments and to compare and contrast the outcomes.  Additionally, this course offers students the opportunity to engage with students at University of Padua (the 2nd oldest university in Italy and a leader in Education) and interact with leading international organizations based in the Venice region.  This course offers students a deeper understanding of the challenges and rewards of working with cultures other than their own while encouraging them to become global citizens. This is a STLR tagged course.
