Presentation and Recitals:

“Bach” In Time: Historical Performance Practice Considerations in Bach’s Mass in B Minor

presented by Janna Montgomery

2 pm, Thursday, November 2, Radke Fine Arts Theatre

Considered a pillar of choral repertoire, Bach’s Mass in B Minor remains a rewarding undertaking for choral/orchestral groups. Drawing on the presenter’s experience working with an expert on Baroque performance practice, the principles will be applied to Bach’s majestic mass. This presentation will compare recordings and consider matters of historical performance practice not only regarding ensemble instruments and choir size, but also regarding phrasing and articulation style.
