How to Prepare for your Scholarship Applications
Official Transcript
Request an official transcript from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in Room 124 of the Nigh University Center. For more information, call (405) 974-2727 or email onestop@uco.edu.
Personal Artist Statement
Most CFAD scholarship applications require a 250-word personal artist statement describing your academic interests and how they relate to your career objectives. You can use the same statement for each scholarship.
Faculty Letters of Recommendation
Some scholarship applications require letters of recommendation from faculty members. You will submit their email addresses during the application and they will receive an online form to complete. It’s best practice to ask their permission in advance and give them plenty of time to do their part.
Artwork / Essay / Additional Questions
Some scholarship applications require original artwork, an essay or answering additional questions. Please see the individual scholarship criteria for specific requirements.
NOTE: All requirements are based on your status during the upcoming academic year, unless otherwise stated (i.e. if a scholarship is for a junior, you must be a junior during the 2018-2019 academic year).
Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
A. The portal only allows you to select one college in your profile at a time, so some scholarships that are college-specific may not be visible to you. If you are a double major in two different colleges, select one of them within your profile (e.g. College of Fine Arts and Design), save, and apply for those college-specific scholarships. Once those are complete, edit your profile, change your college (e.g. Liberal Arts), save, and apply for the new college-specific scholarships that appear. If you need any help, contact Tiffany Bryant at cfadscholarships@uco.edu. A. Many of the scholarships have extra stipulations that might not match your profile such as GPA requirements, residency requirements, class level, etc. Some scholarships are also specific as to your exact degree (violin vs. piano, etc.). If you think you should be eligible for a scholarship but it is not showing on your page, please contact Tiffany Bryant at cfadscholarships@uco.edu. A. No, students only enter the email address of the faculty member for which they are requesting recommendation forms. The CFAD administration automatically sends emails to the faculty requesting their recommendation and the faculty members returns them to CFAD by email. A. You can track your scholarship on the “Completed Applications” page. It will show if the scholarship is still under consideration or if you have been awarded or not awarded a scholarship. You will also receive an email stating if you have received an award once the decision is made.I’m a double major in two different colleges (e.g. College of Fine Arts and Design and Liberal Arts) but the portal is only showing scholarships for one.
