Health Professions Information

Health Professions

Welcome to UCO, where student success is our top priority. High quality advising coupled with personalized educational experiences prepare our students to successfully compete and gain admission to health professions programs in Oklahoma and across the United States.

Once you have been admitted to UCO and have met with an Academic Advisor in the Nigh University Center, please call or visit the Biology Department to set up an appointment with the Health Professions Advisor. The UCO Health Professions Office can assist you in finding opportunities for job shadowing, volunteering, MCAT/DAT/GRE and other graduate exam preparation, summer research, UCO club involvement, and help in preparing health professions applications. If you have questions about transfer credits or graduation requirements, the Academic Advisors in the Nigh will be glad to assist you.

Advisement Worksheets

Advisement Worksheets are available for many health professions. For example, if you are interested in medicine as a career, choose Medicine from the list below and you will see how to proceed with course selection and curriculum planning at UCO. Many students preparing for careers in health professions will go on to receive graduate degrees before they become licensed. Therefore, they should be satisfying requirements for a baccalaureate degree at UCO. Although a specific major is not required, students must demonstrate strengths in science, math, compassion for people, and knowledge of the health professions they choose to enter.
