Old North at UCO

Emergency Referral

To make an Emergency Referral (when the student is in imminent danger of hurting self or others):

If the emergency occurs during UCO business hours, call the Student Counseling Center at 974-2215.  Provide the counselor with a description of the situation that has lead to your concern. The counselor will advise you of appropriate actions to effectively help the student.
If the emergency occurs outside of business hours, call the Department of Public Safety at 974-2345 or call 911.

For a student who may need additional support, the local 24-hour crisis line phone number is 848-2273 (HEARTLINE).

To make a non-emergency referral:
Encourage the student to contact the Student Counseling Center to schedule an initial intake interview. Offer to let the student call from your office or walk the student over to the Student Counseling Center if you believe he or she needs extra support.
