ALEKS is a web-based Math test that uses artificial intelligence to map a student’s strengths and weaknesses. ALEKS consists of approximately 30 free response questions and can take 60-90 minutes to complete. ALEKS may assess your abilities in any of these subjects:
Equations & inequalities
Linear and quadratic functions
Exponents & polynomials
Exponentials and logarithms
Geometry & trigonometry
The test results will be used to determine the most appropriate courses for each student as they move forward with college coursework. After taking the exam, students should meet with their advisor to review their results and enroll in the best classes based on their score. However, if you are an incoming freshman signed up for Forge, you will meet with an advisor on your orientation date.
Students that are required to take ALEKS must take one un-proctored practice test. Since it is an un-proctored exam, the score received will not count toward satisfying remediation requirements. Once the un-proctored is completed, study modules will be made available to help students prepare for proctored attempts. You may take your un-proctored practice attempt by selecting the 'ALEKS PORTAL' located at the bottom of this page.
Once an un-proctored exam has been completed, you may register to take your proctored attempt. A proctored attempt must be taken at UCO and supervised by Testing Services. A proctored attempt will count toward meeting remediation requirements. To register or see walk-in times, follow the directions below.
You will need to know your UCONNECT username and password that you received in your admission letter email in order to login below. If you do not remember, please contact the IT support desk (email: email@example.com, phone: 405-974-2255).
Students that are required to take placement exams for admissions purposes must pass the ACCUPLACER English/Reading exams in order to be admitted.
Once admitted, you will need to return to complete your ALEKS Math placement exam. The reason for this is that you will need UCONNECT credentials in order access the un-proctored exam and study modules, but you cannot be given credentials until you are admitted.
If you are not sure if this applies to you, please contact the UCO Office of Admissions, 405-974-2727.
The University of Central Oklahoma complies with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the American with Disabilities Act of 1990.
