Remote Proctoring

Remote Proctoring:

For out-of-state students that are unable to take placement exams on campus, remote proctoring is available. This allows students to take their placement exam(s) on their personal home computers/laptops which have functional web cameras. UCO utilizes two companies for this purpose:

  • Examity: used for ACCUPLACER English/Reading placement exams and
  • ProctorU: used for ALEKS Math placement exams

Examity and ProctorU are not free services. You are responsible for any fees charged by the companies.

You must submit a request via email to with your:

  • First name

  • Last name

  • UCO Student ID number

  • State that you are requesting remote proctoring

Testing Services will then email a form that must be completed, returned, and approved before you make arrangements with Examity or ProctorU. Once approval has been made, you may navigate to Examity and ProctorU below. You will need to create accounts in order to take the exam(s). ProctorU requires 72 hours notice for an appointment.

Technical Requirements: please see a complete list of Examity's technical requirements and ProctorU's technical requirements before you make an attempt to schedule. At this time, ProctorU does not support:

  • Google Chromebooks

  • Tablets

  • Linux operating systems

  • Microsoft Windows 10 S

  • Microsoft Surface RT

Note: They do not proctor computers running within virtual machines. If you are running within a virtual machine when you connect with ProctorU, you will be asked to exit your virtual machine and reconnect using your host operating system to take your test.

Note: They do not support development previews, beta builds, or release candidates of any operating system unless specified.
