Kennan Horn

Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) Kennan Horn, Project Director for Student Support Services SALUTE and Manager, Veteran Student Support: Ken served in the U.S. Army from 1986-2010. His operational assignments include service in the 101st Airborne Division, 25th Light Infantry Division, and 10th Mountain Division. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Northeastern State University and a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice Management and Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma. 


 Alberta “Snow” Snowden, Student Worker
Alberta Snowden currently serves as a work-study student for the VSS office. She graduated from Prague, OK and enlisted in the Oklahoma Army National Guard in 2013 as a 68W (Combat Medic). She is currently a Sergeant in the Guard and a Psychology/Biomedical Sciences double major student with aspirations of becoming a Psychiatrist one day! Alberta also serves as Treasurer for Student Veterans of America of UCO.

 

Catherine Orozco Christmas, Veterans Upward Bound Veterans Outreach/Retention Coordinator
Cat is an Army brat and a Navy wife. She has served our nation’s heroes in veterans’ higher education since 2012. Cat has past experience with the G.I. Bill as both a certifying official and as an approval officer. She is active with multiple veterans’ education organizations like the Oklahoma Association of Veterans Coordinators and Counselors, the Western Association of Veterans Educational Specialists, and the Student Veterans of America. In 2015, Cat was a winner of the Western Association of Veterans Educational Specialists’ Presidential Award for her efforts in the field of veterans’ education. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of North Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and is currently working on her Masters of Public Administration at UCO.

 

Stephen Quinn

Stephen Quinn, Veterans Upward Bound STRIPES Outreach Specialist Stephen came to UCO after a 20-year career in the Air Force where he deployed several times as an Airborne Radar Technician on an AWACS aircraft.  His deployments include trips to Canada, Germany, Japan, Kosovo, and Saudi Arabia.  Quinn is married to Gina and a father of three; son Cullen and daughters Samantha and Mackenzie and has three grandchildren Emma, Lyla, and Aiden.  Quinn received his Organizational Leadership degree from Southern Nazarene.  He hails from Augusta, GA, however, Quinn has lived in Mustang since 2003.

 

Jill Langston

Jill Langston, Coordinator of Veteran Student Support: Jill began her career at UCO 26 years ago and has worked in the Office of Admissions and later in Academic Records. Her years of experience in Student Affairs is an invaluable asset to the office and her current position, which involves being UCO’s School Certifying Official for VA educational benefits.

Audrey Ranney, Administrative Assistant to the School Certifying Official
Audrey recently received her Master of Education degree in Adult and Higher Education – Lifelong and eLearning from UCO.  She also received her B.S., Ed. in Elementary Education from UCO, so she is a true-blue (and bronze) Broncho!  Audrey has been married to SFC Eric Ranney (Ret.) for almost 20 years, and has served military members in the capacity of a Family Readiness Group.

Jordon Dodson serves as the STLR intern for the VSS office. She graduated from Cache, OK and enlisted in the Oklahoma Army National Guard in 2013 as 68W (Combat Medic.)  She is a Nursing Major, a member of the UCO Army ROTC and a Peer Health Leader.

Russel Wolfe Headshot

Russell Wolfe, Student Support Services- Veterans (SALUTE) Retention Coach Russel is a Staff Sergeant, U.S. Army (Retired), served 11 years in the United States Army as Combat Support and Preventive Medicine Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC). His assignments include tours at Fort Benning, Fort Drum, Fort Meade, and overseas tours in Germany, Korea and Saudi Arabia. Russell was a member of the US Paralympic Archery team in 2008 and 2012. He has a bachelor’s degree in Outdoor/Community Recreation at the University of Central Oklahoma using the GI Bill.

Thomas McShane, Student Support Services- Veterans (SALUTE) Retention Coach
Tom served in the U.S Army from 2006-2012. His operational assignments include service in the 1st and 4th Infantry Divisions with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UCO and a Master of Science in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from Langston University. He is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and  holds a certification as a Global Career Development Facilitator.

Thomas Nail,  Student Worker
Thomas Nail spent seven years in the US Army, including a 2012 deployment to Afghanistan.  He is currently working to obtain his B.B.A. in Marketing – Professional Selling at UCO.  He serves as a mentor to student veterans and is always happy to help fellow service members navigate the higher education system.
