Native American Success Initiative 

The Native American Success Initiative (NASI) promotes the retention, academic success and graduation of Native American students while providing resources to support development of Native American students personally and professionally.This initiative addresses the academic, social, cultural and psychological needs of Native American students through a wide range of intentionally designed and carefully coordinated curricular and social programs.

Who Can Apply for NASI?

  • First-year (first-time) student at UCO
  • Self-identifies as Native American
  • Planning to enroll full-time for fall and spring semester of the first year at UCO
  • Has less than 30 college credit hours

How to Apply

Step 1: 

Register for Forge. FORGE is the orientation program for all UCO students where you will enroll in your classes.

Step 2: 

Complete the NASI New Student Application

Step 3: 

At FORGE, enroll in at least three of the four NASI cohort classes offered for the Fall semester by July 1.One of the three classes must be the NASI Success Central Course. Native American Success Initiative fall 2019 classes:

All students enrolled in the Native American Success Initiative are required to attend both days of the "NASI Welcome Retreat."

Day 1 Sunday, August 11, UCO 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. 

Day 2 Monday, August 12, UCO 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. 

*Room location will be provided via email after you have completely and successfully enrolled in the Native American Success Initiative and the cohort classes.

Important Information

When you attend FORGE, please check-in with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) table OR stop by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion located in Room 211 of the Nigh University Center (2nd floor behind the UCO bookstore), to make sure you are enrolled in the NASI program and in the correct cohort classes.
