The Black Girl Magic Celebration is designed to encourage unity among women
and foster an empowered sense of self 

What to Expect

The Black Girl Magic Celebration is open to all UCO community members and prospective students. The program will include a professional development portion geared toward equipping college students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed after graduation.

There will also be a panel discussion and table discussions centered on the experiences of African American women.  Topics will address how African American women live their most authentic lives professionally and personally, insight on successfully navigating professional career tracks, and discussion on the dynamics of personal relationships (romantic, family, community) and their impact on African American women.

10:00 a.m.  Professional Development Session (Open to College Students Only) 

11:00 a.m.  Doors open for Black Girl Magic Program and Luncheon  

11:15 a.m.  Lunch Served 

1:30 p.m.    Program Concludes

For high school students, the University of Central Oklahoma Office of Undergraduate Admissions has provided a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to a student who plans to attend UCO starting the fall 2020 semester and who will be enrolled full time. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must RSVP and complete the scholarship prompt by February 10, 2020.

For college students, the African American Faculty/Staff Association has provided a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to a current UCO student who is enrolled full time and will be enrolled full time during the fall 2020 semester. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must RSVP and complete the scholarship prompt by February 10, 2020. 

Attire: Students are encouraged to wear an outfit that allows them to feel like their most authentic and empowered self!
