Student Alliance for Equality (S.A.F.E.)

The Student Alliance for Equality (SAFE) has provided support for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, asexual, queer, and questioning students, faculty, staff members, alumni, and our allies at the University of Central Oklahoma, as well as for members of the surrounding communities, since 1989.

SAFE hosts social, educational, and outreach programs that promote inclusion and respect for diversity for the entire community, and we advocate for initiatives and services to support LGBTQIA+ Oklahomans, on campus and throughout our region.

SAFE is a member organization of UCO’s Diversity Round Table, sponsors the UCO Safe-Zone Ally Program, and collaborates with community organizations on a variety of initiatives and programs.

For further information, please contact SAFE Co-Presidents Mitch Pace ( and Jack Armstrong ( or SAFE faculty advisers Dr. David Macey (, 974-5922) and Professor Charleen Weidell (, 974-3772).
