The University of Central Oklahoma's Mission states that UCO “exists to help students learn by providing transformative education experiences to students so that they may become productive, creative, ethical and engaged citizens and leaders serving our global community”.  The goal of the Digital Central initiative is to catalyze this mission through the effective use of digital technologies.tablet with puzzle pieces: learn educate create research explore

Digital Central’s primary focus is on the use of mobile devices, multimedia, and other digital tools to empower transformative learning experiences, with a particular emphasis on “Flipped Classroom” strategies.  These strategies involve faculty and students concurrently using digital tools to strategically increase each student’s engagement with content, the instructor, and with other students.

At the core of the Digital Central initiative is deep and ongoing faculty training and assistance.  The iPad Academy, now called the Digital Central Academy, began in the Spring of 2010, and has since continued to grow and evolve to become the cornerstone of mobile innovation and integration by faculty at UCO, both in and out of the classroom.  Participants of this program have become leaders in modeling the effective use of the iPad for increasing productivity and instructional effectiveness.

Digital Central's website showcases the variety of digital initiatives taking place across UCO's campus. In line with this, the content on the website is created in collaboration with those working closely with each of the different projects. Contributors range from faculty and staff to students from different departments, programs and colleges. The focus of this site is to highlight the amazing work taking place at UCO with specific focus on these initiatives' impact on transformative teaching and learning.
