Our Director

Dr. Churchill

Lindsey Churchill is an Associate Professor of History in the Department of History and Geography at the University of Central Oklahoma. She is the creator and Director of the Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies Minor. In 2015 she worked with the campus community to create the Center which includes the Women's Research Center and the BGLTQ+ Student Center. Her book Becoming the Tupamaros: Solidarity and Transnational Revolutionaries in Uruguay and the United States was published in February 2014 by Vanderbilt University Press.  Churchill worked as a Fulbright Specialist in Latvia in 2016. She is the recipient of the Oklahoma Human Rights Award from the United Nations Association and Oklahoma University Human Rights Association (2016).

Our Assistant Director

Dr. Lorry Youll

Lorry Youll, PhD, is the Assistant Director of the Women’s Research Center and BGLTQ+ Student Center. She is a full, tenured professor in the Department of Psychology and is licensed as a psychologist in the state of Oklahoma. She also serves as Program Coordinator for the master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. Dr. Youll teaches graduate courses in counseling, assessment, ethics, and culture and gender diversity. She has mentored students on STLR and RCSA grants from across campus and has presented at local, national, and international conferences. Her areas of study are reproductive health advocacy, diversity, and health psychology.

Jordan CampbellJordan Campbell

Jordan Campbell is a sophomore student at the University of Central Oklahoma, currently majoring in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality studies. She is a student researcher and Sexual Health Ambassador through the Center. She is excited for the opportunity to share her passion for sexual health education with others.

AnaMarie LopezAnaMarie Lopez

AnaMarie Lopez is a junior studying Interpersonal Communications at the University of Central Oklahoma. She is the assistant coordinator of the Sexual Health Ambassador internship with the Women's Research and BGLTQ+ Student Center. She is also a student researcher and her project focuses on increasing medical students education on BGLTQ+ health needs.

Jakey Reavis

Jakey Reavis is a undergraduate History student and is working on a Women, Gender, and Sexuality studies minor. Jakey is a student researcher studying Sexual Education in Judaism and is a assistant librarian at the center.

Mickayla Fisher

Mickayla Fisher

Mickayla received her bachelor's degree in Art History from the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO). She is pursuing her master's degree at UCO in History. Mickayla’s areas of focus are in African diaspora, prison history, and gender and sexuality. She works for the Women's Research Center and BGLTQ+ Student Center (The Center) as the student manager and the project coordinator for the Reproductive Justice Campus Action Network.

Andrew Traxler

Andrew Traxler

Head Student Librarian, Liaison and Asst. Manger of the Center. Andy received his Bachelor’s in History at the University of Central Oklahoma. He is currently a Master’s in History Candidate concentrating on Native American History. Andy was worked as an International Gender and Sexuality Studies Conference assistant and has had experience in LGBTQ+ activism in Oklahoma City since 2000. 

Jennifer Phillips

Jennifer Phillips

Jennifer Phillips is a graduate student in the history program working towards her thesis, Human Trafficking in the Western Hemisphere. Through this partnership with The Center, Jennifer has presented at several conferences from domestic to international. Along with a wonderful group of students, Jennifer is the graduate lead in a project in collaboration with the schoolhouse at the Edmond Historical Preservation Trust. Jennifer looks forward to improving our partnerships within our local community as well as globally.

Jacob Jardel

Jacob Jardel is a graduate student in English with a focus in Composition/Rhetoric. A former Sexual Health Ambassador, he is the current Managing Editor for Central Dissent: A Journal of Gender and Sexuality and has worked on Center projects involving pornography and polyamory. Jacob’s research interests include misconceptions of sexual and romantic orientations, BGLTQ+ representation in media, and rhetorical analysis of media using queer and feminist lenses.

Joshua Mitchell-Arbital

Joshua Mitchell-Arbital

Joshua is a Senior at the University of Central Oklahoma, studying Forensics and Sociology. He is the Coordinator of the Community Closet and is a Student Researcher focusing on more inclusive medical care.

Katelyn Sargeant

Katelyn Sargeant

Katelyn Sargeant is currently a junior at the University of Central Oklahoma, studying in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in psychology as well as three minors: French, Pre-Law, and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She works in the Women’s Research and BGLTQ+ Student Center on campus, working closely with Dr. Lindsey Churchill as a student researcher. She is currently a senator within UCOSA. Katelyn is in the S.T.A.R.S. Honor Society and the National Society of Leadership and Success.

Asheley Middleton

Asheley Middleton

Asheley is a Psychology student with a minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies. She is the Sexual Health Ambassador's coordinator at The Center and is passionate about teaching her peers about sex education. When she finishes school, she plans to be a sex therapist.

Laura Moore

Laura Moore

Laura is an undergraduate Psychology student with a minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies. A former Sexual Health Ambassador, they currently work as a student researcher and as Dr. Lindsey Churchill’s assistant. They have worked on projects concerning pornography and polyamory and have helped coordinate events such as the Center’s annual International Gender and Sexuality Studies conference. Laura hopes to stay at UCO for their Master’s in Counseling Psychology and plans to become a sex therapist as well as a university professor.

Ashley Cooks is a junior Organizational Communications major and Gender and Sexuality Studies minor at the University of Central Oklahoma. She is a Sexual Health Ambassador and concentrates on education within the African-American community.

Andrew Hedges, He/him. Junior psychology Major. Andrew is mentor for LGBTQ+ student success initiative and researcher on Conversion Therapy in the United States.

Lyric MannsLyric Manns

Lyric Manns is sophomore Sociology Major. She has worked on project about the lack of sexual Education within the African American Community in Oklahoma and sex ed for religious communities. She wants to continue to create a positive change within the UCO community and become a better and stronger leader.  

Alaska DoolinAlaska Doolin

Alaska Doolin is a sophomore majoring in French Language and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at UCO. She is a Sexual Health Ambassador and is researching the link between consumer culture and sexuality.
