General Information

Dr. Laressa Beliele serves as chair of the Donna Nigh Department of Advanced Professional and Special Services at UCO. She is an associate professor of the School Counseling program. Dr. Beliele is a certified school counselor, nationally approved clinical supervisor, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and approved LPC supervisor.

Dr. Beliele spent 31 years as a special education teacher and high school counselor. She has thrice been president of the Oklahoma Counseling Association, the official association for Oklahoma’s mental health and school counselors. Dr. Beliele served on the OSDE Revision Committee for the The School Counselors’ Guide. She has served on Oklahoma’s Licensed Professional Advisory Board and was appointed by the governor to be on the Board of Behavioral Health Licensure transition team. Dr. Beliele is a volunteer group facilitator for the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI).  She currently serves on the NAMI Oklahoma Board of Directors.

Dr. Beliele is an alumni of UCO, having earned a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees, all from UCO. She has a doctorate in Counseling Education and Supervision from Regent University in Virginia.
